The In/Humanity scheme researches a highly conceptual design based on the subject of metaphysical alchemy to propose a scheme that promotes the revitalization of the user's mind, body and soul. The scheme itself focuses on the design of the sky park and and bridge in detail whilst also proposing possible further interventions that could be made in the future.
Main Sky Park Hub- Section showing the sky park atrium and the side hub structures inspired by the gas holders previously on site.
It's form taking inspiration from human hands and tendons to relate directly to the idea that this is a journey of man whilst also using a fluid form to reflect the flow of the river it parallels. The sky park on the other hand takes physical inspiration from the gas tanks that use to be on site and re- conceptualizing them as vessels for reflection now overgrowing with nature.
The scheme itself plays with the manipulation of light and shadow in space, through the use of space and void in the bridge railing design and the use of a designed curtain wall in the sky park to maximize views of the broads that it looks upon. The bridge takes inspiration from the three stages of metaphysical alchemy, the death impurities, the cleansing of the soul and the renewal of the soul.
